Entertainment Squad’s The Horror Collective and Mometu join forces for real-life dark drama

Mometu, in collaboration with Entertainment Squad’s genre label The Horror Collective, proudly announces the acquisition of The Haunting of Hollywood, a gripping psychological thriller marking the debut of rising European filmmaker Lilia Doytchinova. The film will make its exclusive streaming premiere on Mometu on February 7, 2025, followed by a TVOD release on May 6, 2025.

With a powerhouse cast led by William Mann (Zombie Strain), Tiffany Downey (Cherokee Studios; The Heavy), Stefanie Infante (Backlog), Joseph Lopez (Blood Star), Astrid Morberg (Cryptid) and David Lami Friebe (Sistas; All American), The Haunting of Hollywood blends supernatural horror, mystery, and drama into a gripping tale. Inspired by the tragic real-life story of Peg Entwistle—who jumped from the Hollywood sign in 1932—the film explores the pressures of fame, unresolved trauma, and mental health in the entertainment industry.

“Hollywood has always been synonymous with dreams, but this story reveals the shadows beneath the spotlight,” said Shaked Berenson, CEO of Entertainment Squad. “The film is an unflinching look at mental health, relationships, and ambition in a city where the line between dreams and nightmares blurs. With a brilliant cast and crew, this is a story we’re thrilled to share.”

Bryan Louzil, VP of Business Development at Mometu, stated: “This isn’t just a ghost story—it’s a moving narrative about mental health and perseverance. The Haunting of Hollywood speaks directly to the challenges many face in pursuit of their dreams, making it a perfect addition to Mometu’s lineup of compelling, thought-provoking content.”

Director Lilia Doytchinova commented: “This story reflects my own experiences and those of many artists, including my incredible cast and crew—and, of course, Peg. I had the privilege of working with remarkable actors like Tiffany Downey and William Mann, who helped shape the troubled characters of Olivia and James, whose toxic relationship serves as the core of the story. I wanted to create a love letter to Los Angeles while acknowledging its darkest truths. I hope audiences will reflect on the strength it takes to confront the past and the complexities of ambition in a city bound by illusions and their impact on mental health.”

Set against iconic Hollywood landmarks, the story follows James (Mann), a young filmmaker grappling with his mother’s tragic past, and Skyler (Infante), his aspiring actress girlfriend. Together with their friend Casey (Friebe), the trio are drawn into a haunting tale of family secrets and ghostly memories, blurring the line between reality and illusion in their perilous pursuit of stardom.

The Haunting of Hollywood has already earned multiple accolades, including two-time Best Thriller winner at the Golden State Film Festival and the Silicon Beach Film Festival, Best First Time Feature Director at Halicarnassus Film Festival and Most Terrifying at the Top Indie Film Awards, and features an evocative score by Snowfx, nominated for Best Music. The Haunting of Hollywood is set to return to the Golden State Film Festival for its 2025 season, at the movie’s homebase- the iconic ChineseTheater in mid-February.

Watch from February 7, only on mometu.com.
